For one thing, connectivity to ASD is never 100% guaranteed. Almost, but not quite. This may seem shocking, given that the ASD service level agreement (SLA) includes a 99.99% uptime clause (see the “Service Level Agreements” article for details: http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/support/legal/sla/).
