What Is Simulation?
Simulation models abound in our world. The city of Atlanta, for example, uses them to control traffic. Europe’s Airbus Industries uses them to test the aerodynamics of proposed jets. The U.S. Army simulates war games on computers. Business students use management gaming to simulate realistic business competition. And thousands of organizations like Bay Medical Center develop simulation models to help make operations decisions.
Most of the large companies in the world use simulation models. Table F.1 lists just a few areas in which simulation is now being applied.
