The initial contract that you form with your client will set out a framework for action and offers a tool by which the success or failure of the engagement can be measured. There are many models that outline a basic structural framework that the document and process can follow and it would be foolish for me to try to offer a definitive answer. The danger is that in offering a potential structure of the contract process, 99 per cent of practising consultants will say "yes, but you missed this item". Hence the content offered in this contract model is meant to be indicative and is not offered as a definitive model (Table 6.1).
