Understanding Fonts
Individual fonts belong to a family of similar fonts that share various characteristics such as style, size, and special effects. For example, a Times Roman font is really more than a single entity because a character set is associated with the font. To review fonts, you should first understand a few terms:
Font size is the definition of how large or small a font character is displayed or printed. Sizes are normally described in points; there are approximately 72 points in an inch.
Font style consists of bold, normal, italic, or bold italic. The style determines how the characters belonging to a font are displayed.
