So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Creating additional widget areas
Most WordPress themes provide support for one or more widget areas. The sidebar of a page or post is the default and most popular widget area. Widgetizing the layout is a popular technique in modern sites where the layout is split into various areas. The widgets can be placed dynamically in these areas to provide user-specific components in the site layout. So, we see widget areas being enabled in the header, footer, and content parts of a post or page.
The widget areas in WordPress can be created by using themes as well as plugins. In this recipe, we are going to look at the process of adding a custom widget area to the Twenty Twenty Child theme layout and displaying it on the frontend.
