How it works...

The Highlight Search Terms plugin is a simple plugin that doesn't provide any configurable settings. Once the plugin is enabled, the search term highlighting feature will be enabled by default. We used the Twenty Twenty theme for this chapter. So you will see the search icon in the top-right corner of any page.

The positioning of search is theme-specific and hence you will find the search feature in different locations of the page/post. In the Twenty Nineteen theme, the search was available in the footer area as a widget. When the search is not available anywhere on the page, you can just add a query parameter to the URL as ?s=search to search the site and see the results.
