When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
How it works...
The WordPress upgrade process replaces the existing files and may change the database as well. If the upgrade process doesn't complete or generates a conflict with existing features of the site, you will need to restore the site to a previous stage before the backup. Therefore, we have to back up the database and site files as the first task before starting the upgrade process. You can use the instructions from the previous recipes to create the necessary backup files.
Then, we deactivated all the plugins on the site. Even though it's an optional task, it will help prevent any conflicts in the upgrade process due to the plugins not being compatible with the latest version.
