Creating a new user role

Once we click the Add Role button, a form pops up to fill in the details. We have to use a unique name for the role and any display name of your preference. In this case, we used product-creator as the role name and Product Creator as the display name. Then, we can use the Add Role button to create a new user role with no capabilities. However, we selected Subscriber for the Make copy of field setting. So, the capabilities of the Subscriber role will be assigned to the new custom role.

You should only use the Make copy of field setting when the new role has most of the capabilities of an existing role. Otherwise, it will be easier to create a user role with no capabilities and assign the necessary ones.
