Synopsis

/usr/sbin/clear_locks [-s] hostname
					

Description

Use the clear_locks command to remove all file, record, and share locks created by hostname and held on the current host, regardless of which process created or owns the locks.

Only superuser can run this command.

Warning

Use this command to repair only the rare case of a client crashing and failing to clear held locks. If you clear locks held by an active client, applications can fail in an unexpected manner.

If you run clear_locks on the NFS server, it clears any type of file locks set by an NFS client on files that are local to this server and that are exported with NFS. You would most likely use clear_locks on a server if ...
