setuname — Change System Information

Synopsis

setuname [-t][-n node][-s name]

Description

Use the setuname command to change the system name or the node name in real time. You must specify either or both the -s and -n options when invoking setuname.

If you omit the -t option, any change is permanent. Otherwise, only the name in the running kernel is changed.

The system architecture may put requirements on the size of the system and network node name. The command issues a fatal warning message and an error message if the name entered is incompatible with the system requirements.
