/bin/putdev -a alias [attribute=value [...]] /bin/putdev -m device attribute=value [attribute=value [...]] /bin/putdev -d device [attribute [...]]
Use the putdev command for the following tasks.
To add a new device to the device table.
To modify an existing entry by adding or changing attributes. If a specified attribute is not defined, this option adds that attribute to the device definition. If the specified attribute is already defined, the attribute definition is modified.
To remove a device entry from the table (third synopsis). You can either delete an entire device entry or, if you use the attribute argument, to an attribute assignment for a device.
