You don’t need to spend hours and hours teaching people the rules of writing because there are very few hard and fast rules for writing training modules. Once the basic concepts of action verbs and objects, action steps, and action substeps are learned, teams do the rest.
To avoid their reinventing the wheel, encourage design team members to use available sources of information, such as technical manuals, references, and procedures; job instructions; manufacturers’ literature regarding materials, tools, and equipment; safety-related written materials; repair forms; and math-related documents (for example, trigonometry tables, decimal/fraction equivalent chart).
