Trainers should always conduct follow-up training sessions. A good practice is to do this at least twice per module within a few weeks of training sessions. After that, conduct spot-checks at least every six months to assess how well trainees—and existing employees—are applying their skills and knowledge. Have their competence levels in certain skills increased, decreased, or stayed the same? Some tasks will require a period of practice before the trainee becomes fully expert at the task. Be sure to include this follow-up training as part of the trainee’s individual training implementation plan.
