I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Does the Two-Column Format Work for Both Skill and Knowledge Modules?
Most training modules for OJT are skill modules and fit very nicely into the two-column format presented in this chapter. Knowledge modules also work very well in two columns, although some information may need to be presented in a structured text style like that shown in Figure 6.4. Illustrated there is part of a knowledge module written to provide an overview of patient lifters for medical personnel. Column 1 specifies the “what” and column 2 presents explanatory information. (Because the items in the example are not sequential, numbering is not necessary.) Notice that a knowledge module does not attempt to train how to operate the lifter, but rather provides an overview. ...
