After you start Windows Live Mail, the program contacts your mail server every 30 minutes to see if any new messages have arrived. You can change the frequency with which Windows Live Mail checks for new messages to any time between 1 minute and 480 minutes. For example, you may prefer a shorter time if you are expecting an important message. Alternatively, if you want to minimize your connection time, you may prefer a much longer frequency.
