5.1. Create Custom Namesfor Imported Images

You can create more meaningful file names for your imported images by configuring Windows Live Photo Gallery (available from http://download.live.com) to use a custom name that you specify during each import operation.

When you import images from a device such as a digital camera, Windows Live Photo Gallery launches the Import Photos and Videos tool to handle the job. By default, this tool preserves the existing file names of the images. However, most devices supply images with cryptic file names, such as IMG_1083 and scan001. These nondescriptive names can make it more difficult to find and work with images, particularly if you use the Details view in the Pictures folder.
