You can make your computer's startup quieter by turning off the sound that Windows 7 makes each time you turn on or restart your PC.
Windows 7 plays a sound when it starts, and this is often useful because it tells you that the Windows 7 desktop is about to appear, so your computer will soon be ready for use.
However, this sound can be an annoyance if your computer is located in a quiet office, or if you are starting up your home computer early in the morning while other members of your household are still sleeping.
To get rid of this problem, you can configure Windows 7 to bypass the startup sound.
1 Click Start.
2 Click Control Panel.
The Control Panel window appears.
3 Click Hardware and Sound.
