What’s New in Installing SQL Server 2012
The installation process for SQL Server 2012 is relatively unchanged from SQL Server 2008.
One new feature in SQL Server 2012 Setup is the Product Update option. During the installation, this option checks for the latest product updates to SQL Server 2012 and automatically downloads and integrates them with the main product installation so that the main product and any applicable updates are installed at the same time. The Product Update feature can pull in a cumulative update, service pack, or service pack plus cumulative update.
