Installing SNAC

This section shows how easy it is to install SNAC, the key net-library for SQL Server 2012 and beyond.

As mentioned earlier, both the SQL Server 2012 Database Engine and the client tools depend on SNAC. SNAC is installed when you install the SQL Server connectivity tools, or you can simply launch it on its own from the SQL Server installation media. The sqlncli.msi installer is found in several locations on the media, including driveletter:\1033_ENU_LP\x64\Setup\x64. You can just search for the sqlncli.msi to find the location on your media. You can also download the installer from the Microsoft SQL Server 2012 FeaturePack website, http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29065.
