Database mirroring has seen a very big uptake on its usage by companies around the world, based on its ease of configuration and its great high availability benefits. Even with this feature’s popularity high, Microsoft has announced that it will be deprecated in the next couple of years. If this is anything like when they announced that log shipping would be deprecated back in 2008, it might take a while for this to happen. (Log shipping has not disappeared from our SQL Toolkit yet, and it is now 2013!) So, some caution of using database mirroring now should be taken, but it is a very good DR option for those who need to get this done fast.
