Transact-SQL is a powerful data access and data modification language that provides a number of features and components to help you develop powerful and robust SQL Server–based applications. SQL Server 2005 further expanded the power and capabilities of T-SQL with the addition of a number of new features, and SQL Server 2012 provides even more (see Chapter 42 for details on the new T-SQL features introduced in SQL Server 2012).
