I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Upgrading
Upgrading Joomla is fairly straightforward. Assuming that you are subscribed to receive Joomla announcements and security updates, you’ll immediately know when an update is available. Follow these steps to upgrade your website:
Back up your website.
Refer to Site Backup/Migration: Perform Backups and Migrate Your Site Using JoomlaPack for instructions on how to use JoomlaPack in order to create a backup of your site.
Download the latest patch by going to http://www.joomla.org/download.html. You should find the latest available patch. If you are upgrading from a much earlier versions, click on “Download other Joomla 1.5.x packages” to access patches from previous versions. After downloading the update, extract its contents into Joomla’s root (main) folder, overwriting the old files.
This method has worked for every Joomla update thus far. We cannot guarantee that all future versions will be this easy to upgrade, but it is fairly safe to say that they will be.
