19.5.2 Important denitions
Normal time: The time required by an average trained operator to perform a task in the
true environment and the normal working pace.
Normal pace: The pace of an average trained operator working over an 8-hour shift
period
Actual time: The observed time for an operator to perform a task
Allowances: The amount of time added to the normal time to provide for body breaks,
personal need, unavoidable delays (not within the control of the operator), and
fatigue
