
• Click on the lower of the two white strokes to select it.
• Click the stroke’s color swatch, and select the darkish blue
color, called Night Blue, in the pop-up panel. Then press
Enter or Return to hide the panel.
• Increase the line weight value to 9 points.
• Click the word Opacity in the control panel to bring up a
pop-up version of the Transparency panel. Change the blend
mode from Normal to Multiply, and press Enter or Return.
Illustrator encases the composite of the white beads inside a
uniform system of blue borders, as in Figure 10-51. The effect
works perfectly without you having to modify a single effect.
11. Duplicate the bottom blue stroke. With the blue stroke still
active, click the icon along the bottom of the Appearance
panel to duplicate it, along with its dash settings and effects.
Then drag the new stroke down the stack and drop it below
the yellow stroke, just above the empty fi ll.

Modify the new stroke. Click the swatch for the bottom stroke
and change it to the purple called Plum. Then click on the
Stroke link, reduce the Weight value to 0.7 point, and turn off
the Dashed Line. Press Enter or Return to accept your changes.
13. Change the Transform effect settings. Make sure the purple
stroke is twirled open so you can see all three of its Transform
effects. We’ll change each one of them:
