Feather. Select the rear white Stroke (the one you’ve been work-
ing on) to reactivate it. Then choose EffectStylizeFeather.
(For once, there is no shortcut.) Change the Feather Radius
value to 2 points and turn on the Preview check box. The circles
produce a slight, diaphanous glow, like those in Figure 10-59.
Click OK to accept your change.
21. Duplicate the glowing circles. In this step, I want to increase
the density of the feathered white circles and reduce their opac-
ity. Here’s how:
Click the fi nal Stroke item in the Appearance panel to keep it
active. Then choose EffectDistort & TransformTransform
or press my shortcut, Ctrl+E (-E).
Change the Rotate Angle value to 90 degrees.
Increase the Copies value to 1, and turn on the Preview
check box. Illustrator doubles the number of feathered
circles in the artwork.
Click the OK button to close the dialog box and apply
your changes.
