11. Swap out the blue for gold. Double-click the swatch that cor-
responds to the undesired color to bring up the Swatch Options
dialog box. Change the color to a nice cosmic gold by setting
the CMYK values (shown in Figure 11-29) to C: 0, M: 35. Y:
100. and K: 0. Click OK, and watch both the swatch and any
area that had been fi lled with that exact blue (formerly known,
in my case, as Tracing 7) turn a nice rich gold, as you can see
in Figure 11-29.

Select another problematic color region. Modifying global
swatches is a great way to get rid of or edit away all occur-
rences of colors that you don’t like, but what if you wanted to
change only some instances of a color rather than all of them.
Say we wanted to get rid of some of those greenish blotches
in our astronaut’s face. Eyedropper the greenish brown area
shown in Figure 11-30. I can see that, in my case, I’ve selected
Tracing 15, but I can’t immediately tell where else in the image
Tracing 15 might be.
CP: I’m not sure I understand the ‘ev-
erywhere’?
CP: only fyi -- my fi rst time through this
exercise, after selecting the eyedropper
tool, Illustrator crashed. It was okay the
second time.
