7. Change the stack order, stroke, and fi ll. Press Ctrl+Shift+ (

-Shift-

) to send the circle to the back of the stack. Assum-

ing the stroke attribute is still active, press the

key to set it

to none. Lastly, change the fi ll to the Medium Clay swatch in

the Swatches panel, as shown in Figure 5-34.

8. Create a third circle. Your new circle should still be selected,

meaning you’re ready for more scaling and cloning. Drag just a

short distance from the point indicated in Figure 5-35, add

the Shift and Alt (Option) keys, and release when the

circle is in position, as shown in the fi gure.

Change the stack order and fi ll. Again, press

Ctrl+Shift+ (-Shift- ) to send the new circle

to the back. In the Swatches panel, set the fi ll

to Light Clay, as in Figure 5-36.

Select the green square. Moving on from

the circles, it’s time to complete the square

ornament on the left side of the circle. If you

turn off the Progress layer temporarily, you’ll

see that the square ornament is comprised of

three squares, as shown in Figure 5-37; you’ll

use the same scale and clone techniques used for

the circles to complete this ornament. Select the

square by Ctrl-clicking it (-clicking on the Mac).

Move the transformation origin. Before you can scale
