Zoom Tool
Whenever you click on your image by using the Zoom tool, you zoom in on the image to a preset level (just like the Mountain icons in the Navigator palette). I almost never use the tool in this way because it takes too long to get where I want to be. Instead, I usually click and drag across the area I want to enlarge, and Photoshop immediately zooms me into that specific area.
In addition to zooming in, you also have options for quickly zooming out. Double-click the Hand tool icon in the Tools palette to fit the entire image on-screen.
