Select > All selects the entire document. This can be useful when you need to trim off any part of an image that extends beyond the edge of the document (Figure 2.53).

You can crop out those areas by choosing Select > All and then Image > Crop (Figure 2.54). Also, if you need to copy an entire image, you'll need to select everything, because without a selection, the Copy command will be grayed out.
