The new Smart Sharpen filter in Photoshop CS2 (Figure 12.47) expands on the concepts of Unsharp Mask to deliver a more sophisticated method for sharpening images. However, there are many instances where I still prefer the Unsharp Mask for reasons I'll explain in just a bit.

The Amount and Radius settings in the Smart Sharpen filter work just like the ones found in the Unsharp Mask filter.
