Load as Selection
Once you have perfected a Layer Mask, you might need to select the areas that are visible in order to add a border or perform another effect. You can do this in many ways. The fastest method is to Command-click (Mac) or Ctrl-click (Windows) the Layer Mask thumbnail (Figures 15.79 and 15.80). If there is already a selection present, you can Shift-Command-click (Mac) or Shift-Ctrl-click (Windows) to add to the selection; Option-Command-click (Mac) or Alt-Ctrl-click (Windows) to subtract from it; or Shift-Option-Command-click (Mac) or Shift-Alt-Ctrl-click (Windows) to intersect the selection.
