If you like simple and easy features, then you'll enjoy using the Image > Adjustments > Variations command (Figure 10.38). It starts off with your original image in the middle of a seven-image cluster. When you click one of the surrounding images, it will replace the one in the middle and repopulate the surrounding views with new alternatives (Figure 10.39). You can control how different the alternatives are from the center image by adjusting the Fine/Coarse slider in the upper right of the dialog box. This type of adjustment will concentrate on either the brightest areas of the image (known as Highlights), the middle brightness levels (known as Midtones), or the dark areas of the image (known as Shadows).
