Multiply Mode

Of all the Darken blending modes, the one I use the most is Multiply. Multiply acts just like ink. To see what I mean, just imagine taking Figure 13.17 and printing it on an inkjet printer. Then, imagine sending the sheet back through the printer and printing a second image on top of the first (Figure 13.18). All the second printing can do is darken the first because all an inkjet printer can do is add ink to the page (Figure 13.19). Or, if you're a photographer, think about what happens when you sandwich two 35mm slides together. The second can only darken the first, right? Well, it's the same concept.
