I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Interesting Edges
To create a rippled-edge effect on your mask, try this out: Open the photograph you want to apply the effect to, and make a selection with the Marquee tool. Make sure your selection is a little inside the edge of the photograph (so there's room for our effect). To get the photograph to show up only where the rectangular selection is, click the Layer Mask icon at the bottom of the Layers palette.
Now you can distort the edge of the photo by using any filter you'd like (Figures 15.62 to 15.64). For now, just use one of the filters under the Filter > Distort menu, such as Ripple, Twirl, or Polar Coordinates.
