Chapter 30
Shaderlight Special Features
Shaderlight has several unique features (including batch rendering, proxy components, and creating clay renders) that affect the rendering process. This chapter explores the various features outlined here:
- Dynamic Preview: Shaderlight allows users to adjust the camera view, textures, lighting, and resolution while the render is being processed. This feature can be leveraged for batch rendering.
- Animation:Using the Animation menu, Shaderlight can generate animated fly-throughs. Rendered animations are a separate topic not reviewed in this book. However, the Shaderlight Animation tools areideal for batch rendering.
- Batch Rendering: Dynamic preview and the Animation tools provide the ability to batch render (create multiple images quickly).
- ReplaceMe: ReplaceMe is a proxy render feature. Any existing component in a model can be linked to an external component model file. During rendering, the object in the model is swapped with the linked file, rendering the linked object instead of the one in the model.
- Chalk Renders: The Chalk Render options are Shaderlight’s version of clay renderings.
