The Texturing Process

Build a Texture Library
Download and organize texture files into a coherent Texture Library. Textures should be organized by type and category so that you can quickly sort them and easily access them. You will end up reusing many of your textures. Given the sheer variety of materials that can be arrayed in a model, an organized library will ensure easy access for your future work. Chapter 7 provides detailed information and links to websites offering material images.
Use the SketchUp Texture Tools
Using the SketchUp Paint Bucket tool, you can apply, edit, scale, and replace textures (Fig. 6.12). A right-click context menu allows you to reposition and rotate those textures. External photo-editing software can be linked to the Paint Bucket tool to provide additional editing options. Chapter 8 provides a detailed review of the various ways to apply and edit textures in SketchUp.
