It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Scenes
Scenes are used to save camera views, control the visibility of component objects, and maintain SketchUp performance. Several types of scenes can be created—for example, On/Off scenes that allow model detail to be toggled on and off quickly.
Before you create a scene, always check to see which scene properties are checked and unchecked in the Scene menu. Click on the newly created Scene tab to make sure the scene and its options were correctly created.
