Making Your Goals Achievable

So what makes the difference between having more customers or making more money and a good actionable goal you can build a landing page and ad campaign and analytics measurement around? Definition and accessibility.

By forcing yourself to define your goals more clearly, it makes them easier to track. Goals you can track are goals you can continue to improve. As your business grows, your goals will continue to change.

One metrics tool you need, your spreadsheet, helps you gather your metrics over time, sort them by various variables, and see how achievable your goals are.

Definition and measurement

The following spreadsheet exercise helps you get more comfortable manipulating data inside a spreadsheet from Google Analytics.

First, you need to get a bit familiar with the Google Analytics Data Feed API. It sounds a little daunting, I know, but it’s nothing to be scared of.

1. Log in to your Google Analytics account and choose the domain name of the domain you want to track.

If your Analytics installation is new, make sure that it has begun gathering data! If it has been installed a while on your website, move on to Step 2.

2. Place the following code into your Google Spreadsheet.
