Looking at Other Mobile Metrics Tracking Methods
Google Analytics SDK is one of the most ubiquitous tracking methods for mobile app metrics, but it certainly isn’t the only option. Some mobile application companies choose to develop their own in-house metrics tools.
If you have the budget, developing your own tools is fine, but why reinvent the wheel when you have so many options that you can purchase and that will work as well or better? One solution you can purchase is Kontagent (see Figure 17-2), a useful SaaS (Software as a Service) product that offers many metrics options for the mobile app makers out there.

Kontagent mobile metrics started as metrics for Facebook games and has since branched out into mobile social applications. Its out-of-the-box solution offers many of the same metrics as Google Analytics SDK.
Another SaaS option is TapMetrics, shown in Figure 17-3. This solution touts a five-minute install. For the iOS app makers, it also handles your iTunes Connect downloads for you, meaning that you don’t have to go through the convoluted login process for iTunes Connect anymore.
Flurry is another option for folks that want to purchase a solution instead of building their own or doing the programming required to get SDK up and running. Flurry focuses heavily on the Android platform much as TapMetrics focuses on iOS.
