Measuring Collateral
One thing the new social media universe can do is save you money. You’ll need less collateral and traditional advertising than you have in years if you utilize social media well and measure it well for success. However, because not everyone is online, you will need traditional media for some things.
Did you know that you can measure traditional media collateral? You can use several methods to gather metrics in regular marketing collateral:
Always include your landing page link on all print material.
Include a hashtag like the one in Figure 10-4. #SMM4D is the hashtag for this book, for example.

Use a QR Code if you have printed signs in your store or posters out and about in the wild. Generate this code with a service like YouScan.me so that you can get metrics on it. Also ensure that the link is your shortened URL to your landing page for triple the metrics (or use referrer tagged links, if you prefer).
