Adding 3D text

In Unity, text can be created as 2D sprites or 3D GameObjects. 2D sprites are used as user-interface elements. They are added to canvases and display as an overlay on the user's view of the scene. 3D text elements are used as a GameObject with the same transforms, components, and attributes as other scene items. For this project, we will use 3D text GameObjects to give the booths a name:

  1. Visit a free font repository, such as 1001freefonts.com or Fontspring.com, to locate and download a font of your liking. Select a font that is either TrueType (.ttf files) or OpenType (.otf files) for the best results.
  2. Add the font to the project by right-clicking in the Project window and selecting  Import New Asset... and move it into the ...
