I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Custom Startups with the Windows 98 Startup Menu
In the 3.x versions of Windows, you had to run the win command (the WIN.COM file) to start Windows. This was handy because if you were having trouble with Windows (a garbled display, for example), you could always boot to the DOS prompt, fix the problem (by editing an INI file, for example), and then restart. Even if you had the win command in AUTOEXEC.BAT, you could always bypass it by commenting it out.
Although Windows 98 still has WIN.COM, you never really use it because, as you've seen, Windows 98 loads automatically. So what do you do if you need to bypass Windows 98? You could put a bootable disk in drive A, but that's not always convenient. Instead, Windows 98 comes with a Startup menu ...
