Direct Cable Connection and Infrared Ports

If your host and guest computers have infrared ports, you can use these ports to establish a connection without having to bother with cables. When configuring the connection, note the following:

  • When the Direct Cable Connection Wizard asks you to specify a port for the connection, select the virtual serial port used by your infrared adapter. Note that infrared ports aren't identified explicitly, but only by the virtual ports they use (such as COM 4, for example).

  • Make sure you position the host and guest ports so that they're facing each other directly and are no closer together than six inches and no farther apart than three to nine feet.
