Customizing the DOS Window

If you figure you'll be spending a reasonable amount of time lounging around the DOS prompt, you'll want to configure the DOS window so that you're comfortable with how it works and how it's displayed. The next few sections take you through the various options available for giving DOS a makeover. Note that although I'll be using COMMAND.COM and its MS-DOS Prompt window as an example, each technique I'll be discussing is available for any DOS program.

DOS Properties

A DOS program, like any Windows 98 object, has various properties you can manipulate to fine-tune how the program works. To display the properties sheet for a DOS program, you have three choices:
