Troubleshooting Windows 98 Printing

When you need hard copy, the last thing you need is for your printer to play hard-to-get. If your printer does mess up, however, Windows 98 offers a couple of troubleshooting features that might help. I discuss these features, as well as solutions to specific printer woes, in the next few sections.

Using the Print Troubleshooter

If your printer won't print anything, or if your printouts contain garbage characters or only partial data, or if printing seems to take forever, you need to do some troubleshooting. For these kinds of problems, the Windows 98 Help system has a Print Troubleshooter that can help you narrow down to the cause.
