Previous versions of Windows refused to admit the existence of notebook computers. They simply assumed that a computer was a computer, and it really didn't matter whether your computer could be slung over your shoulder and lugged home at night.

Windows 98, however, not only knows about notebooks, but it also recognizes an important fact of portable computing life: Your notebook machine often has to use documents from your desktop machine, and vice versa.
