Working with Printer Properties

Each printer you install becomes an object in the Windows 98 shell. These printer objects have just one action—printing—but they have a boatload of properties, some of which vary from printer to printer. To view the properties sheet for an installed printer, try either of the following methods:

  • In the Printers folder, highlight a printer icon and select File | Properties, or right-click an icon and select Properties from the context menu.
  • In a printer's window, select Printer | Properties.

The dialog box that appears depends on the printer, but it will look something like the one shown in Figure 21.8. Here's a summary of the various tabs you might see in your printer's properties sheet:
