Reading Incoming Mail

Of course, you won't be spending all your time firing off notes and missives to friends and colleagues. Those people will eventually start sending messages back to you, and you might start getting regular correspondence from mailing lists, administrators, and other members of the email community. This section shows you how to retrieve messages, read them, and then deal with them appropriately.

Retrieving Messages

Whether Outlook Express checks for new messages on your server automatically is controlled by a setting within the Options dialog box. To view this setting, select Tools | Options and make sure the General tab is displayed (see Figure 34.21). This tab actually has two settings related to retrieving messages:
