3. Identify How You Will Get from the
Present to the Future
Only after you defi ne the future can you consider how to move
from here to there.
What can you do to create that future? Are there forces at work
that create opportunities for you? How will you deal with the
forces working against you?
This “how to get there” will become your actual plan—the
strategies, milestones, and activities that will take you there.
The line between this step and the previous—where you’re
going and how you’ll get there—is often blurred. In fact, a useful
