For those who use Mac OS X, it deserves exploration. Given
the broad multilingual support in Mac OS X in general, the same can be said for Pages.
Online Word Processors
ere has been a recent trend to move applications from the desktop, as applications that
are tied to a specic OS or architecture, to those that are accessed online, through the
use of web browsers or similar clients. While the portal through which such applications
are accessed may be tied to a specic platform, out of obvious necessity, the applications
themselves are not. Such applications eectively remove the notions of “platform” and
“OS” from the equation.
One of the touted benets of online word processors is the ability to collaborate. Another
obvious benet is the ability to work from anywhere, on any machine that has web access.
For developers and users alike, another compelling benet of online word processors—
which is really a benet of any online application—is the ability to have much shorter
release cycles. In other words, bug xes, updates, and new versions get into customers’
